In The American, Jack (George Clooney) is a master assasin who is in Italy for “one last job.”  Surprising himself, Jack seeks out the friendship of local priest named Father Benedetto and pursues a romance with local woman, Clara.  But has he gotten careless and tempted fate?  That’s what the movie will show.

Here is the trailer, along with movie times for theaters around Newnan near Preston Mill:  Carmike Newnan 10, Regal Georgian Stadium 14 & Cinemark Movies 10 – Fayetteville.  If you go to the Regal, be sure to “like” them on their Facebook page and take advantage of their concession coupons!

Dance movie deja vu

Is it me, or is the plot to all of these teenage dance movies basically the same?  Step Up 3D is about a New York University student who starts hanging with street dancers and eventually is invited to join their crew.  One thing leads to another and eventually the “crew” ends up competeing in the hugest international dance battle against dance crews from all over the world.

Check out the trailer below.  I have to admit, after watching it, I kind of want to see this movie.  I know dance movies can be cheesy, but the dance/battle scenes look kind of cool…and it’s in 3D!

If  you’re thinking about giving it a look this weekend when it opens, here are movie times for Carmike Newnan 10, Regal Georgian Stadium 14 and Cinemark Movies 10 – Fayetteville.  Enjoy!

Hot Tub Time Machine

The outrageous laughs bubble up when four friends share a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, only to wake up with serious hangovers in 1986 – back when girls wore leg warmers, guys watched “Red Dawn” and Michael Jackson was black! Now, nice-guy Adam, party animal Lou, married man Nick and mega-nerd Jacob must relive a wild night of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll and try to change their future – forever.  Starring Chevy Chase, John Cusack.  Rated R.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Balthazar Blake, played by Nicholas Cage, is a slightly off-beat sorcerer that enlists physics student, Dave, as his apprentice.  Unbeknownst to Dave, he gets in the middle of age-old battle between good and evil.

Sounds like a good family movie that everyone can enjoy.  Check out the trailer below, and if you need movie times, I’ve got you covered for Carmike Newnan 10, Regal Georgian Stadium 14 and Cinemark Movies 10 – Fayetteville.  Enjoy!

DVD Review: The Fourth Kind

The Fourth Kind

Set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where–mysteriously since the 1960s–a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.  Rated PG-13.

Rent it this weekend if you’re in the mood.  Redbox is actually giving away free movie rentals when you “like” their facebook page (once you “like” the page, click the “Redbox” tab and you’ll see the code.  The closest Redbox kiosks to Preston Mill are at Kroger (48 Bullsboro Dr and at 1751 Newnan Crossing Blvd E) and Walmart (1025 Bullsboro Dr).

Toy Story 3…not just for kids

Anybody a fan of Disney’s Toy Story movies?  I swear I think more and more adults are becoming fans, even more than their kids.  I’ve watched the first two – only because my five year-old daughter wanted to see them (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it) so I’m pretty familiar with the story.  Basically, in the third installment, Toy Story 3, all of the toys are donated to preschool.  The movie is centered on their journey to return to their beloved owner, Andy, who was away at college.

It’s really a great family movie as far as cartoons are concerned.  Hey, it’s from Disney, what else would you expect?  It opens up this weekend if you’re looking for a treat for the kids (or maybe even a Father’s Day gift for dad)!.  Check out movie times for Carmike Newnan 10, Regal Georgian Stadium 14 and Cinemark Movies 10 – Fayetteville  here.

Casting Call for Drop Dead Diva at Ashley Park Shopping Center

May 7, 2010 by Chris

A few weeks ago I wrote about how the hit Lifetime Network show, Drop Dead Diva, was coming to Newnan County to shoot some scenes.  Well, I guess they love it here because they’re coming back and this time they’re looking for extras!  So if you’ve ever dreamed of being on screen, now is your chance!

According to the Times-Herald, the open call will be held May 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and May 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ashley Park shopping center.

They are specifically looking to portray very trendy 30-year-olds, Los Angeles model-types who are at least 5-feet, 6-inches (females) and male models who are 5-feet, 10-inches. They are searching for upscale patrons with upscale suits or dresses with a polished look, as well as men and women to portray attorneys and defendants.

The show is one of the higest-rated on cable.  It “revolves around Deb Dobkins, a beautiful-but-vapid model wannabe who, after dying in a car accident, is reincarnated in the body of Jane Bingum, a brilliant, thoughtful and overweight attorney.”
